February 22
I'm going to japan from march 9 until april 6, and I want to climb Mt Fuji, from the bottom til the top. How much snow should I expect? How cold is it going to be? My lonely planet says its doable, but thats pretty much it.

December 1
I have a semi-unexpected week's vacation next week, and a yen to do some leisurely road-tripping. I have no shopping to do, no planned events to attend, no one I owe a visit, and in general nothing to recommend any city within 500-ish miles of Oklahoma City over any other. So... what events of unusual interest are happening December 8th-15th in the Central U.S.? Santa Fe or St. Louis; Denver or Memphis; Kansas City or Austin or any other metropolis within a day's drive of Oklahoma - anything going down in your burg that week that would justify a road trip?

August 14
I'm looking to get away for 3-4 days (and give my partner some alone time as well). My criteria are: relatively cheap, minimum heat/humidity, medium/big city with bookstores, cafes, art, and nightlife. I have to travel by train/plane - no car. Not interested in The Great Outdoors. I have a passport and I speak okay French. [more inside]

July 7
I can go on a two-to-four day trip this August, traveling by myself. I'm leaving from Seattle. I want to: walk a lot, see interesting things, eat good food, sleep in a clean and pleasant hotel (not a B&B), walk more, and generally enjoy a break from my lovely-but-exhausting small children. I have a passport, but don't want to spend a lot of time in the airport for such a short vacation. I don't want to go to Portland or San Francisco, as much as I like them both, because I've been there so often. I want to feel like I've been somewhere new and seen new things. Don't worry too much about budgets -- help me brainstorm, and I'll figure out what's realistic. (Private jets are not possible. Plane or ferry tickets are.) Alaska? Victoria? Where?

This year's vacation plan: Fly to PDX and drive to Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier, and back via Seattle and Mt. Rainier. What should we not miss along the way? Specifically, I'm clueless about what there is to do in Idaho and along the route between western Montana and Seattle.

I'm doing 7 months in Europe, paying my way by telecommuting as a freelancer. To this end, wireless internet access is vital. I often spend a few days in a row working, without doing any sight-seeing, go out exploring a few days and repeat. I need a base city where I can work from, but also keep my expenditure to a minimum. I'm moving! I'll be driving from San Francisco (just north from there really) to New Hampshire in a month or so. I plan to document the trip w/a Nikon D40 camera and and cheaper, soon to be bought camcorder. It'll probably be a Samsung Sports Cam, although it's not central to the question. I want a great route which I have half checked out, I guess. I want a great culinary as well as a scenic sample of the US. I'm looking for the rural food/scenic stops just outside of major (or not so major) interstates. If the stops are on the interstate, awesome! If not, please tell me why the stops deserve an off interstate jaunt (50-100 miles or so off of the interstate.) Please feel free to message me if you'd rather. Most likely, I'll visit most of them, anyway. [more inside]

Are there any "Americatowns" or "Little New Yorks"? I mean, are there any neighborhoods outside the U.S. that are known for having a sizable American expatriate/emigrant population and culture? I'm not talking about tourist ghettos in popular vacation spots. Nor am I interested in discussing the many American businesses and aspects of American culture that have spread outside the U.S. I just want to know if there are neighborhoods of non-American cities where a sizable, cohesive community of Americans live and work.

I would like to quit my job and go on a self-sustaining adventure. By self-sustaining, I mean that it would mostly pay for itself, cost very little, or both. I have money saved, but I will need it as a buffer when I return to the real world and look for a job again. For argument's sake, let's say I can put $1500 toward this adventure. My time frame is 2 months to a year. I'm open to anything from being a frieght train hobo to volunteering in a far-away country to flying to Sweden and finding a job washing dishes. [more inside]

In late May, I'll be driving with a bunch of friends in an RV from Sacramento CA to George WA and back for the Sasquatch Music Festival. I've only driven as far north as the Oregon border before, so I'm looking for recommendations of interesting places to stop - your favorite diners, pie shops, waterfalls, hot springs (improved or not) and other oddities of northwest highway culture. I'm familar with many Northern California hot springs (I really like the one in Sierraville), and would love to find other very inexpensive and informal places like that.
