I'm a college student, being flown up for a job interview in Manhattan this Friday. I asked the firm I'm interviewing with to schedule my return flight for Saturday morning instead of Friday night so that I can explore the city, but now I'm finding out how expensive lodging in the city is.

Looking for NYC-area hotels with stories of hauntings and/or assorted creepiness. Friends are coming to town this Friday 13th and are looking for some correspondingly creepy digs.

I want to visit NYC for a month in April/May.
Any tips for short term rentals? One bed or studio apartment. I hope to be working in the Tribeca area. I live in Australia so pls assume that I know nothing about the rental process and need to start from scratch!

I'm traveling to NYC (and then London) at the end of the month
(yes, MeTe meetup post to follow soon!), and I'm leaning towards staying in rented guest room (via Craigslist vacation rentals) rather than a hotel.

Looking for a nice hotel in nyc for <=$200 a night. I usually stay with friends, but they're all out of town, and I'm hoping someone can recommend a nice place for me and my special lady to stay in Manhattan. We're on our way somewhere else, so it's just for one night. I'm thinking lower Manhattan but flexible. Also, is it best to make reservations directly with the hotel or is orbitz etc a good strategy for finding a room?

What's the best high-end place to stay in NYC? I'm not looking for absurdly priced penthouse rentals, just a weekend stay in NYC that's somewhat more unique than a Hilton. I'm specifically looking at the Soho House and have family that raves about the Waldorf (a little too blueblood for me). Any suggestions?

Question for NYCmefites and/or mefis that know about Rutgers University. I have a friend here in Spain that is going to do a 2 month academic sojourn at Rutgers but wants to enjoy NYC to the fullest. She has a tight budget, where should she stay?

I am going to NYC with a group of friends for a long weekend this summer. We have narrowed our hotel choices down to two, one near Union Square and one near Central Park. In which area would you recommend staying? I should say we are a bunch of housewives going to celebrate a 40th birthday.

Can anyone recommend a particular New York State winery? I'm sorting through them all now, and there are so many! I would prefer one with a bed and breakfast accomodation either on site (do they do that?) or quite nearby. Attractions nearby would preferrably also lean towards nature or museums rather than shopping.

Dear New York City Mefites, I've got a bit of an unexpected trip to your fair city and am looking for recommendations for hotels or hostels. I'm hoping you can recommend places that I'm missing because they either don't have a web page, or are buried beneath massive piles of seo inflated sites.
